So here I am in San Francisco! So far, I’ve not really been eating out as the large portion sizes at breakfast mean that I’m not really having to eat again during the day but, like a muppet, I forgot my face cream which meant that I took a drip to Marina on Sunday and found Over The Moon.
A friend of mine has a new food venture – Little Brown Pig – a bacon sandwich food truck. She recently catered for a marathon and unfortunately for her business, but very fortunately for me, there was left over bacon and eggs that were very kindly delivered to my door this Easter.
I know there is a lot of arguments about whether this is an Australian or a New Zealand recipe, however, as an Aussie woman there are two things that I’m meant to do on ‘Stralya Day (otherwise known as the 26th January) – not approach the BBQ unless offering plates or beer and make a pavlova.
I have a friend who gets to eat at some of London’s top restaurants as part of his job. Among all the places he’s been, Pollen Street Social is his top London restaurant – so as you can imagine, this says alot. So when Little Social opened across the street, it was a definite “I must try”.
I was eating this risotto at lunch today and I was asked for the recipe. To be honest, it was a bit of a random Saturday lunch to use up a little bit of this and a little bit of that in the fridge on a Saturday afternoon.
There has been a bit of talk about Sushi Samba – does Latin America and Japanese flavours work? Short answer – OH GOD YES!
I love baked goods… particularly, freshly baked goods. I haven’t really cooked cinnamon scrolls before but I have seen my friend do it and inspired by Masterchef Australia again I decided to give it ago. They worked, they were yummy and here’s the recipe below.
I had a big week last week and Saturday night, I wasn’t doing a lot – so I had a BBQ with my baby cousin and everything for it was done in an hour! This is simple and quick but VERY impressive (she was posting on Facebook from the dinner table). If you don’t have a BBQ, use a grill plate.
I have been lazy – I’ve been eating so much good food around the world that fat fingers haven’t managed to get to a keyboard but I am back on it kids.
More coming soon…
After just arriving off the plane from Australia, what does one have for breakfast?
The answer – poached eggs with crumpets, avocado and hollandaise sauce!
